Anyone explain to me Euro monetary as never used it?

this is an example, say 6.90 Euro, what is the 90 exactly? in English it would be �6.90 pence, and USA would be $6.90 Cents etc, but in Euro 90 what exactly, what is that side cled as past the point in units side.
