Using a nasal aspirator on a newborn?

My son is just over 2 weeks old and has caught a cold from his older sister. I want to use saline drops and a bulb syringe to unplug his little nose. Is it ok to use it on such a tiny baby? I never had to use it on my daughter until she was about 3 months old so I am a little wary of using it on a newborn. Advice?
