Why is James Carville so bitter and angry??

When he was helping to run the Clinton campaign back in 92 he was jubilant. Since John Kerry's defeat he has come off as bitter and angry. I do understand that he's upset, I'm upset, but he's coming off so angry on tv that its unattractive. What's going on with him?
